The Irony...

It's been many years since I've posted anything, or even touched a miniature. I think the last time I played a miniature game on a table with dice and everything was about fall of 2015.

My miniatures languished in the basement untouched and unloved for many years, until Halloween night of 2019 they decided they'd had enough, and wanted to enjoy one last flaming hurrah.

Bits and hobby materials
During a windy cold rain storm, a tree broke the neutral wire from the power pole to our house. This caused an electrical "event" that set my miniatures on fire. They burnt mightily, as the forced of Chaos should.
This used to be my tournament Daemon army...

The whole family managed to get out of the house. It was a near thing. My daughter and I lost some eyelashes and bangs singed off from the extreme heat just running by basement door.

Bastion and Rhino meld
Things to remember in a house fire: grab your cell phone which is probably right on your night stand. I had to pound on neighbors doors until someone woke up to call 911 for me. Then I got to stand in the road in a windy cold rain storm up to my ankles in cold water in my underwear watching smoke come out of my house waiting for the fire department.

Ancient Gauls don't do well in the heat
The miniatures are a total loss, along with the rest of the house. Insurance is treating us well, but it sure is a tough time.

And of course, now that all my paints and brushes and EVERYTHING we all have mountains of to paint and assemble and modify our models, not to mention models themselves, are all gone, I have an itch to start painting!

I looked around for game systems, and have decided I want to do Kings of War. Big units of ranked up fantasy dudes lined up across from each other has always been my prime love. I have some local friends that play. There are tournaments regionally I can attend.

Dwarfs and Lizards!
So, I'm build a Dwarf army! I don't know how good it is, but I'm more interested in painting and assembly big pretty units than tournament crushtastic gameplay.

So hopefully I can start blogging again and get an army painted up and regale you with my stories of tabletop conflicts, failures, bad dice, and me being stupid once again.

Miss you all, be safe!
